Razija represents a South Slavic adaptation of an Arabic-derived name connected with the root رضي (raḍiya), meaning “to be satisfied” or “content.” As Islamic culture spread through the Ottoman Empire into the Balkans, many Arabic names entered Bosnian and Albanian naming traditions through Turkish influence. In South Slavic spelling systems, the letter “j” commonly represents the “y” sound, which explains the form Razija.
