Rejjan

Rejjan represents the Bosnian transcription of the Arabic name Rayyan (ريان). The shift from “ay” to “ej” reflects standard Bosnian orthography, where the sound is commonly written with “ej.” The doubled consonant preserves the intensified form found in the original Arabic structure. This adaptation developed through centuries of Ottoman presence in the Balkans, when Arabic and Turkish names entered Bosnian Muslim naming traditions.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, many Arabic-origin names were reshaped to align with South Slavic spelling systems while maintaining their Islamic religious associations.
